About the Department
The Community Programs Office (CPO) at UCLA, established in 1970 and departmentalized in 2003, serves as the university’s multicultural center. Centrally located in the Student Activities Center, it provides a space for cultural exchange, community building, and diverse support services. Committed to inclusivity, the CPO supports students of all backgrounds, including communities of color, LGBTQIA+ students, undocumented students, and students of all abilities. The CPO’s mission extends beyond fostering community to include advocacy, program development, and essential support services to help students thrive academically and socially.
Position Summary
The Marketing and Technology Manager is a critical role within the CPO, responsible for managing marketing initiatives, Basic Needs outreach, and technological troubleshooting. This position oversees public communications, manages the department’s online presence, and supervises student technology staff as part of the CPO Internship Program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop marketing materials, graphics, photography, videography, and manage social media platforms.
- Oversee the CPO and Basic Needs websites, ensuring up-to-date and engaging content.
- Supervise student technology interns, guiding them in creating marketing assets for programs and events.
- Provide technical troubleshooting for departmental systems, including the Computer Lab and Test Bank.
- Facilitate the purchase of technology equipment to improve staff efficiency.
- Act as a liaison with advertising vendors and SAIT for outreach efforts.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- Strong interpersonal skills for working with diverse groups.
- Experience in multicultural centers or similar environments.
- Proficiency in graphic design tools (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop) and web design.
- Expertise in Microsoft Office, video editing software, and vector illustration.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and train student workers.
- Flexibility to work occasional nights and weekends.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with UCLA’s business processes and security standards.
- Knowledge of installing and troubleshooting hardware and software.
- Experience facilitating leadership workshops for students.
